A researcher is asking about why the Roya don’t make a settlement within Bjartr Woods proper.

Vitruvio: “May I ask why your people don’t settle within Bjartr Woods?”

Alviss: “For the Soliskin, Bjartr Woods is home. It is there they rest, grow, and return to the Solistress at the very end. We Shepherds watch and tend to them, but disturb their rest we do not. Neither do we infringe on their freedom.”

Vitruvio: “I see… so only Shepherds enter Bjartr Woods most of the time?”

Alviss: “Yes, child. When we enter, we pitch only a small tent, so the forest remains theirs. That is also why Haldarheim was built outside the woods. All things human—our rituals, our trade, our crafting— we do away from the woods. Only the Solisylum’s calculations remain. Only when we lay aside human noise and enter in reverence can we come close to the soul of the Soliskin and earn their recognition.
