The Mist is a dangerous Waveworn Phenomenon which mainly afflicts the land of Rinascita. One of its main characteristics is that it traps reverberations, and when it collects enough, they quickly form into Tacet Discords.

It all begins in the place called Nimbus Sanctum. The Nimbus Sanctum is a part of Sonoro that exists in the real world where the mist is most concentrated.

The mist in the Nimbus Sanctum is actually composed of high-concentration Remnant Energy.

In the centre of Nimbus Sanctum, there was the “Old Seminary”, the former central institution of the Order of the Deep. With the advent of the first Dark Tide, its remnants created the “Sea of Clouds”. The mist gradually rose, submerging the Old Seminary and forcing the society to relocate to the current city of Ragunna.

During the day, the sea of clouds resembles a pure, dreamlike paradise. With vapor and mist swirling, one can occasionally spot various echo creatures. The deeper one ventures into the sea of clouds, the thicker and more chaotic the mist becomes. By night, specks of bioluminescence drift across the surface, and when a gondola passes by, the glowing particles swirl around it like stars fallen into the sea, guiding travelers on their path.

According to legends in Ragunna, the center of the Nimbus Sanctum holds a tranquil, mirror-like body of water. It is said to purify the dark thoughts of people, transforming them into part of the mist. Some believers travel here on pilgrimages, hoping to attain peace of mind through this purification process.

In recent years, strange phenomena have been occurring frequently within the mist, causing the gondola stations to suspend services for travelers.

In the heart of the sea of clouds, where the mist dissipates, a garden is located. At its center, there is a circular body of water, its surface as clear as a mirror.

By day, the garden is peaceful and serene, resembling a heavenly retreat amidst the clouds. However, by night, a constellation of stars twinkles above, reflecting upon the shimmering surface of the water, creating a mesmerizing spectacle.

Legend has it that this Sanctum has the ability to reflect and absorb the desires and malevolent thoughts of those who gaze upon it.

Lorelei was once one of the many echoing creatures of the Nimbus Sanctum. It is said that the weather of the clouds changes according to her mood and song. Those aboard the gondolas entering the sea of clouds could follow her song to safely reach the Cloud Court Garden without losing their way in the mist.

Now, Lorelei resides solely in the garden amidst the sea of clouds, no longer roaming freely, but spending her days singing sorrowful ballads.

Penitent's End, once a sacred site for the Order's pilgrims, became a place of peril after the Dark Tide struck, leaving behind Reverberations that twisted the land. The remnant clouds from the Sea of Clouds drew hordes of Tacet Discords, and the high levels of corrupted Remnant Energy in the mist now disrupt frequencies, causing instability at the Resonators' Forte. Hidden within the dense fog, many Tacet Discords lurk, waiting to obliterate any passing ship.

When someone dies, their Reverberations linger. Normally, persistent Reverberations merge into the chaotic cacophony that generates new Tacet Discords, but in rare cases, in the mist, Reverberations can merge with the frequencies left behind by those who have passed away, creating the Golden Phantoms.

The mist can affect Echoes too. It can even make them fall asleep.
