The Carnevale is the grandest celebration of Ragunna, where the masquerades never end, wine flows like rivers, and music pulses through the night. During this time, people cast aside the weight of the world and surrender to the wild, unrestrained joy of the festival.
The Carnevale's origins trace back to Sentinel Imperator, who once guided the people of Rinascita. It began as a tribute to Their grace, a celebration where laughter and performance became the purest form of reverence.
At the peak of the Carnevale, the Sentinel is said to manifest and crown the finest performer with the "Laurel." This honor grants the bearer the privilege to commune with the Sentinel and hear Their wisdom.
Yet, a decade ago, the Carnevale was brought to ruin. A monstrous sea beast, rogue Echoes, and Tacet Discords swept through the festival, turning revelry to ruin. Only when Primus Fenrico intervened did the chaos subside. He proclaimed it was Sentinel Imperator's divine retribution for the Ragunnesi's indulgence and forsaking of their faith.
Since then, the Carnevale has not been held again.
From Phoebe Dialogue:
Phoebe: “The Carnevale is Rinascita's grandest annual festival, lasting seven days. Its theme is said to be ‘transcend the flesh to the divine realm’. The outer seas of Rinascita were once plagued by Tacet Discords and Lament occurrences, making sea travel impossible. Isolated on the island, the Ragunnesi found solace in the epics recited by limping poets and ballads sung by blind singers. Stories from many lands were shared, forming a cradle of culture and art. The people mingled, dreaming of the world beyond, envisioning a different life for themselves. These dreams came to life during the spring rite in honor of the Sentinel. People dressed in costumes, setting aside their positions and prejudices to come together for a grand parade-this is the origin of today's Carnevale.”
Rover: “Sounds fun to me. Can I join it?”
Phoebe: “A stage will be set on the first day of the Carnevale. Wear a mask, and you can be part of the show. The masks set people free, allowing everyone to shed their usual roles and revel in the celebration. We haven't had a Carnevale in many years, so this one is poised to be pretty special. The streets will be alive with spectacular performances. Vendors from far and wide will showcase unique items. Even without a mask, you can still take in the atmosphere and pick up some souvenirs.”
